Michael and Rose Zaiter

  2008 Australia Day Australian Lebanese Award Recipient nominated by the United Australian Lebanese Movement and the Australia Day Council in recognition of Michael's contribution to the Arts and his ongoing work for charity.

 

Michael Zaiter was born in Bann, a mountain village in Lebanon.  He has lived in Australia since the age of six.  Michael showed an early interest in art and studied under the well known artist Professor Raymond DeCusack.  

Michael is one of Australia's most prolific artists. He paints across the spectrum of subjects and in a variety of mediums including Oil, Acrylic, Water Colour, Pastel and Pencil.  This talent is unique in modern art.

Michael has entered and consistently won numerous awards in various Australian art shows.  He has featured in over 65 newspaper and magazine articles to date.

Michael's has held 3 successful solo exhibitions and they have all been sellouts.  His 3rd solo exhibition sold 42 out of 60 opening night.

 

The Michael Zaiter College of Painting

After 4 years of studies, Michael with the help of Professor De Cusack, established his own college of painting in 1975 which over the years has proven very successful.  Many highly talented and successful Australian artists have graduated from the Michael Zaiter College of Painting located in Merrylands, NSW.  Such artists include: Edna Hely, Vern New, Lea Kannar, Jose Gallur, Gloria Galleghan, Bill Liddy, Colin Hayden, Wilma Travers, Nyre Raison, Philip Ewart, Frank Grimson, Peter Martin and Frank Kilpatrick.

Michael has also given many art demonstrations at various Art Societies around Sydney including, The Lidcombe Art Society, The Bankstown Art Society, The Parramatta Art Society http://www.geocities.com/parramattaartsoc/  and The Holroyd Art and Craft Society http://www.geocities.com/holroydartncraft/ 

 

Michael is a respected Art Judge having judged many art shows throughout his career around Sydney.

Michael has painted on location in Egypt, Greece and Italy and various states around Australia. His paintings sell consistently in Australia and to collectors in The United States of America, Germany, Japan, Sweden, England, New Zealand, China, Italy, Greece, Canada and South Africa. The largest private collection to date is over 70 paintings.
